- About Us
At Supreme Chicken, a division of CBH, we produce and process broiler chickens, and proudly provide consumers with quality chicken products. Food safety, ethical practices and good value are always in the forefront at Supreme Chicken.
Historically Supreme Chicken had two abattoirs (at Tigane and Botshabelo) and also breeding facilities, a broiler farm and a contract-grower base. In 2006 CBH acquired Agrichicks Mahikeng and expanded operations to increase production, bringing output to 2.2 million broilers per week.
Today, Supreme Chicken consists of three abattoirs situated at Tigane, Botshabelo and Mahikeng. The three operations jointly make Supreme Chicken the third-largest chicken producer in South Africa. Supreme Processing Germiston, fondly known as the Poultry Palace, was established in October 2021 at the expansive former Enterprise facility. We are a proud supplier to key quick-service restaurants.
The Supreme Chicken team adheres to the high-quality standards and reliability entrenched in the business. All processing plants are strictly halaal-process approved and are monitored and certified by the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) of South Africa, NIHT (National Independent Halaal Trust) and SANHA (South African National Halaal Authority)
Our Values
Employment equity and skills development
CBH has a clearly defined employment equity strategy aimed at realising the potential of previously disadvantaged South Africans. We achieve this by complying with legislative requirements, implementing employment equity plans and facilitating in-house and externally sourced training to groom and uplift the skills of employees towards supervisory and management positions.
Health and safety
By embracing the highest possible health and safety standards, CBH strives to set the benchmark for the industry, recognising our responsibility for the health and safety of all of our employees. We constantly strive to decrease any health and safety risk and incidence, choosing to be proactive rather than reactive. There is a defined hierarchy of control in these matters, upholding our legal obligations while following the codes set out by regulatory bodies.
Environment
At CBH, we recognise that our activities have an impact on the environment. To counter this, we regularly review our activities, adhering to legislation and constantly looking for ways to improve our environmental profile, maintaining awareness throughout our staff from management to all employees. We are quick to respond to concerns raised, working with the relevant environmental organisations and Government, and investing both effort and money in protecting our resources.
Our Values
We care about our people and the environment, making sure that we provide a safe working environment, encourage equal opportunities and implement environmentally friendly procedures.
